What Are You Trying To Say?
The current world of contemporary a cappella is incredibly exciting with so many ideas and styles of music floating around, but it can be difficult to decide how to use multiple elements from the genre and still communicate to a broad audience. This class explores how to sift through the endless possibilities to create a coherent message through music, from analyzing the lyrics to the final performance.

Party Of Six
Here, participants will learn the nitty gritty of making the transition from a collegiate group to a professional group, as well as making the most of individual personalities and voice qualities in a small group (4-6). Topics include, but are not limited to, arranging for the small group, business skills/where to begin, and transitioning from a collegiate group to a professional group (both by an audition process and by taking your entire collegiate group and making it a professional group). The panel will include Craig Simonetti (The Hexachords), Diana Galeano (The Hexachords), Linnea Henningson (The Hexachords) Xander Teplansky (The Hexachords), Angela Longo (Musae), Sam Creighton (Musae), and Mel Daneke (Musae).

Breathe Life Into Your Part
Bringing to life the pitches and rhythms on a page isn't always easy. This class is just what you're looking for in terms of giving your part the TLC it needs to stand out! Whether it's a solo or working in a section within your group, these are techniques you can use to liven up your sound for a knockout performance (and use them in the recording studio as well). Apply techniques to bring out your spoken word and rap/r&b lines, accentuate riffs & runs, highlight a recurring motive, liven a "moment"/transition, etc.
